Disneyland Paris 2013 - Part 4

A Daytrip To Paris

Wednesday - March 27th 2013

Claudia and I had both already been to Paris several times and during our last visits to Disneyland, we always skipped the city, but not this time.

As I mentioned before, the RER Line A connects Disneyland Paris with the city. We left around 8:00am and 40 minutes later we got off at Chatelet Les Halles. From there it was another ten minutes walk to the famous Louvre Museum. At first we thought about going in, but after we discovered the very, very long line, we decided against that. So we took some pictures and walked to Ile de la Cité.

Of course we wanted to see Notre Dame, the world famous cathedral. Thankfully the crowds weren't that big and so we went inside. Notre Dame, celebrating its 850th Anniversary, is indeed a very beautiful church and definitely worth a visit.

Later we were on our way to the Quartier Latin, where we had a cup of coffee at Starbucks and a cold refreshing beer around noon in a very nice Irish Pub. Afterwards we had lunch Maoz Falafel, which we already knew from London.

In the afternoon we visited the world famous Eiffel Tower, but due to very long lines we didn't go up. After taking some pictures from the Trocadero, we took the Metro to Blvd. Haussmann. Like every major city Paris is home to a Hard Rock Cafe and of course that meant we had to go there.

A couple of very expensive drinks later, we walked to Galeries Lafayette. There were way too many people and so couldn't wait to leave again.

Our last stop in the city of love was a vegetarian restaurant near the Bastille, called Gentle Gourmet Cafe. We arrived there early and so it wasn't a problem to get a table, in fact we were the only guests. The food we ordered was delicious. I had a burger and Claudia ordered a nut roast. For dessert I opted for the Creme Brulee, while Claudia had crepes filled with cream and caramel.

From Gare de Lyon we took the RER back to Disneyland, where we enjoyed the rest of the evening at Disney Village with shopping and drinking cocktails.
