Vienna Spring 2011 - Part 1

Vienna

Friday - April 1st 2011

Last weekend we have been to Vienna again. Friday morning we left Salzburg towards Vienna and around noon we stopped in Großmugl, a small village near Vienna, to have lunch at a vegetarian restaurant called Schillinger. It has been our third visit there.

After lunch drove to our Hotel in Vienna. Like last time we stayed in the Vienna International Rainers Hotel, a four star business hotel. It offers breakfast, a bar and the rooms are modern and very nice.

We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon and after a little rest, we decided to go to the Prater, a local amusement park. Honestly the park itself is not very beautiful, besides some nicer areas in the back of the park. The rides are typical carnival rides and the Prater can't be compare to themeparks like Disneyland. The area around the famous Schweizerhaus is really nice and in front of the restaurant is Europe's highest carousel. Instead of doing some attractions, we had some beers at the famous Schweizerhaus.

Afterwards we had dinner in a small pub called Rupp's, which offers over 450 different whiskeys and many different beers. I had a veggie burger and Claudia ordered a soup and a chili sin carne. For dessert we shared pancakes filled with chocolate. Later we returned to the hotel, wher we enjoyed a drink at the bar.

Afterwards we had burgers at another vegetarian restaurant, called Loving Hut, for dinner.

We walked around the beautiful Donaupark (Danube Park) and enjoyed the sunny weather. All trees were already blooming and so we joined a mini train ride through the park.
