Copenhagen 2022 - Part 3

Tivoli Gardens

Friday - June 10th 2022

Since the breakfast at the hotel was a bit underwhelming, we decided to eat somewhere else. We ended up at Espresso House, a chain coffe hourse, but we were happy with our choice. Afterwards we headed to Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen's world famous amusement park. The line at the front gate was already quite long, but soon we were inside the park. Our first stop was Tivoli's signature roller coaster called Daemonen. The ride was okay, nothing special, but still a lot if fun. Then we just strolled around the park before having fries for an early lunch.

Afterwards it was time for more attractions. First we did Fatamorgana, a tower that combines spinning rides and an observation tower. Next was a dark ride named Minen, which was rather underwhelming, and then we stopped at the lake side bar for a refreshing beer. Once we finished our beers we checked out Tivoli's oldest roller coaster. Rutschebanen is a wooden coaster that is still being operated by a person directly on the train, and to our surprise that ride was really fast and thrilling. Then we did some smaller attractions, like the Fun House and a boat ride. An ice cream and a snack with a beer later we rode Milky Way, another roller coaster, before leaving Tivoli.

After a fun day at Tivoli we walked back to our hotel to relax and refesh a bit before heading out for dinner. Today we planned to visit a street food market on the other side of Nyhavn. There we ordered quinoa fries and buttered tofu. Unfortunately the food wasn't good, ut at least the beer was tasty. A couple of drinks later we just walked around Nyhavn and then we returned to the hotel and called it a day.

Copenhagen 2022 - Part 4

Kronborg Castle

Saturday - June 11th 2022

Today was already our last day in Denmark and since didn't want to spend another whole day in Copenhagen, we decided to visit Kronborg Castle in Helsingor. After breakfast at the Espresso House we took the train from Copenhagen Main Station and about an hour later we arrived in Helsingor. There we took a walk along the harbour to Kronborg Castle and once we had purchased our tickets, we did a walking tour through the castle. Kronborg Castle is especially famous for being the setting of William Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet. The castle was very impressive and after we finished our sightseeing tour of the fortress, we stopped for a beer at a bar near the harbour.

Since it was already noon we got hungry and so we gave the Elsinore Street Food Market a try. Located in an old shipyard the street food market offered many different food stalls from around the world. First we ordered our food and drinks and once we found a table, we dug in. Claudia had a Chinese platter and I got the Oriental platter and both were delicious. In the afternoon we just strolled around Helsingor, but unfortunately the city didn't offer a lot for sightseeing and soon we took the train back to Copenhagen. There we got a coffee at Starbucks and then we relaxed a bit at the hotel. Later we got bagels for dinner and spent the evening having drinks at the street food market.

Train back to Copenhagen

Returning Home

Sunday - June 12th 2022

Our flight back to Vienna departed around 7:00am, which meant we had to get up pretty early. We took the metro to the airport and there the security screening took quite some time, but we caught our flight and about two hours later we arrived in Vienna. We still had some time to kill until our train to Salzburg was departing and so Claudia and I had a late breakfast at one of the many airport restaurants. Finally it was time to catch the train and in the early afternoon we were back home in Salzburg.
